406 - Studio brief 2 - What is a book?

BRIEF

Your page content that should be informed by a personal interest but should, in turn, demonstrate a growing understanding of the fundamental principles of grid, layout, type and format plus the form, function and construction of books: all of which is introduced during studio sessions and workshops. These principles and techniques should then prove to be a useful starting point to develop a set series or sequence of page layouts  that effectively communicates your chosen content.
Your 10 layouts should include a contents page and an introduction to the content.

deliveraberals-

A book containing a set, series or sequence of 10 double page layouts that effectively communicate your chosen content.
A minimum of five A3 design sheets/design boards that relate to both parts of the brief (Studio Brief 01 and Studio Brief 02).
A body of development work produced in response to set tasks documented on your studio development Blog. This should include evidence of thumbnails, test pieces and trial layouts produced during the development of your final resolution. The blog should also include evidence of further independent investigation into design principles of layout, type, image, composition and colour as briefed.
A 500-750 word end of module evaluation.

For this book the main important thing to look at are the layout/design, for this brief it is style over context so the aim is to make the layout the main feature to a book that has a unique personal twist on it, something that isn't done before. Create a book that reflects my design interest and what i am interested then use a layout that showcases this to the best ability. Research how other books are design to fit their purpose, look at books related to the selected topic to see what this influences the design aspects.

AIMS - create a unique book which is based around the style not the context but on a subject that is related to personal interests.
