How do you read? Layout/Size Designs

Layout/Size Designs

Small Sample Experiments

Crit Feedback
To find out which book style people preferred and felt would better for this brief i created the simple mock up versions of the book using cellophane, i used this material for the test even though i feel the acetate will work better for the final print as this was cheaper and easier to access, this is as sample to test the layout rather than the material so this is just to show the audeince how it will work as they can get a feel for the design to help them design what they feel works best. It was hard to explain the concept of this idea to an audeince and ask they what size/layout they felt would work best therefore these made it directly easier for them to understand which will make the result more valid.
results
sections - 9
square -7
rectangle - 11
circle - 2
Therefore the book will e made in a rectangle shape, people felt this was easier to understand as it read outward like a normal book and as it bigger than the square it easier to see the overlapping colours. The feedback for the sections idea was that it made it a bit too complicated as there was a lot going on on the one page, having it separated in to different section for the square and the rectangle made it easier to read and see all the information rather than it being confusing as it was all at once.
-rectangle shape
-have the section of the mixtures separate (have white pages to break up the combinations)
-dont make it too big as then the pages will seem empty
-make it pocket size so i can me carried by a child
-make it easy ti read for a child, they can hold it them selves
-make sure the text is big enough to read

SIZE -A6 Portrait
this size will mean he book wont be too heavy so that a chid can hold it and use it buy its self, but its not too small thats there is a danger of a child chocking or swallowing any parts of the book. The book is portrait so it can be read easily and the pages can be turned easily by a child, the movement in the pages is important as it has to be useable by a child without having to have a adult help. This size will also mean that there is not too much text/information used, this book needs to be as obvious as possible but not text heavy as the audeince might not have a very good reading ability.
-text needs to be clear
-text needs to be readable easily
-text needs to be brief
-text needs to be large
-text needs to be soft/curved to seem warming/friendly
-text needs to be the in a easily noticeable place.
