DIGITAL BASIC EXPERIMENTS
INTER CRICT FEEDBACK
-crisp and clear, works for a logo
-loads of research
- great ideas and development
- style reflects flow of ink
- clever use of negatives
- handwritten more effective/ personal
- make sure not to complicated
-try simple styles and compare
From my feedback i can see that there is a very split opinion on to if the handwritten type works for the logo, because of this i then asked a few more people and showed them some simpler designs but they said it didn't fit my idea of a rebrand to use a more sophicated font. if the aim of my rebrand is to create a newer wider audience for the pen shop i have to inspire them to be creative and unique, show they what they can create with calligraphy pens.
I have to make sure my logo works clear and is obvious from afar, not too complicated text.
Experiment more with serif fonts.
TYPOGRAPHY RESEARCH
INSPIRATION
This new style of typography is a new style thats more popular with indie bar and shops, as well as being becoming more popular due to sites like pinterest and craft website that are teaching people to how to create it at home. The rise in this handwritten imperfect typographic style will work well for the logo of my business and it will attract an audience that is up to date with current trends and want to test this new style at home. The shop sells calligraphy pens which people can use to create this, using the type as th logo will inspire people to pick up a pen and start. Although it a new style the logos have a vintage feel because of the traditional mix of sans serif and serif fonts, it combines classic perfect serif fonts with free handwritten text to create a contrast that stands out as delicate and classy.
IMAGE FEEDBACK
The only issues i had with this type is it may but appeal to the main target audience as men, i didn't want to create a logo that reduced the current market and excludes the current customers. Because of this i decide to just do a review of this style of fonts with the males in my class and my accommodation, just to see if feedback was positive or negative. I simply asked them if they fee the text in the images above was too feminine for a logo and would they visit a shop with this logo.
Overall i got a positive response to the font styles with a few comments on the line of 'Yes, but if it done correctly' and 'Only if it not too over the top' this feedback will be useful for me so i know the style can appeal to men but i many have to keep it simplistic.
