Analyzing and selecting which is the most relavent for the student target audience will allow the booklet to be the more simple and easy to process as this a confusing subject that needs to be simplified as much as possible. It will allow it to be design directly for the audience and just keep it related to them, remove the over powering details that may confuse them while showing them the basic. The source information is official therefore reliable so the leaflet is correct and informs directly, this company will deal with the fines ect so therefore will stick to this data as their guide lines.

INFOMATION HIERARACHY
This is a collection of the raw data found on the website about student tv licences via the official, this will be the context for the leaflet. The information is highlighted in different colours with a corresponding code that show which information is the most needed and the most relevant, this will allow a hierarch of information to be created for the leaflet. The key shows which of the infomation is the most needed and significant for the success communication of the leaflet, these are the facts that will be needed by the audience the most and informs them the most.
primary data collection
'which do you feel is the most important, select 5'
These have been selected by a group of the leaflets target audience, it is the opinions a group of student at university what they most needed to know about TV licensing when they first moved and what they need to know now. This survey was created by handing out a copy of the raw date fact sheet and asking a group of 30 student to select the information they found the most useful and important. Using the target audience to inform the data included as the content for the leaflet allows it to be more focused on them and their needs, it gives the target audience what they need to know and allows the design to be focused around this. Receiving feedback gave the selected information that is needed as a basis to allow the project to communicate the aim effectively. By asking people what they needed to know now aswell as what they needed to know when they first moved to uni will allow the content to work for all students but focusing mostly at the time they need it the most (which is when the first move). To make sure the subjects could recall when the first move the uni the feedback was taken from first year student that are only a few months into uni, this made it more relevant to the target audience of the leaflet but also make sure the leaflet communicate the needed facts.
The hierarchy of the information will effect the design of the leaflet as it will have to focus more on the most important, the purpose of the leaflet will be to make this clear and communicate though a design that appeal to the target audience. The layout of the leaflet will have to make the most important information the clearest , applying principle of Visual Hierarchy to the design will allow the audience to read the most important facts first. This is a selection of the hierarchy of information that will be apply to this principle.

page scanning patterns -
‘All cultures read from the top down and most cultures read from left to right. But while that knowledge is important for page design, designers know the task is much more complex.
Recent studies have shown that people first scan a page to get a sense of whether they are interested, before committing to read it. Scanning patterns tend to take one of two shapes, “F” and “Z,” and you can take advantage of this in your design.
F-patterns apply to traditional, text-heavy pages like articles or blog posts. A reader scans down the left side of the page, looking for interesting key words in left-aligned headings or initial topic sentences, then stopping and reading (to the right) when he or she comes to something interesting. The result looks something like an F (or E, or something with even more horizontal bars; but the “F” term has stuck).
How can you utilize this? Align your important information left and make use of short, bolded headlines, bullet points and other such attention-grabbers to break up paragraph block’
this relate to design of the leaflet therefore will inform the way layout the information, make sure the readers eye is draw to the most important data and facts first, apply this principle to the basis of the design will allow it to be more communicative and useful for the audience.
