for this crit the aim was to collective got opinions on which cover the audience felt work best to present the song, to do this my first aim was to include music playing while the opinions where being form but this was not possible but as this was one of the seven song set to the class i can assume most people will have listen to the song. I stated the themes of the song - soul, heartbreak, sadness, resentful yet a clam beat and baseline so the audience had a over all feel for the song to analyse their cover choice.
Also as they may not have heard the song this meant it was being judge on just its ascetics which usually would be bad but as this piece is created for an art exhibition as a one of piece that has to be appealing the piece needs to be attractive to the audience/viewer. This crit will give feedback on which looks the best layout, colour, style and designs wise.
questions prepared for the crit-
1) which designs in your opinion is the most appealing aesthetically? why?
2) do you think the colour scheme is relevant for a song for this theme? (sad break up, heart broken song)
3) which style do you feel reflects the emotions and the songs the most?
4)what overall feelings do you think the sleeves portray?
these questions have been eft mostly open but as in other crit i have been given basic feedback quickly of some of the peers, for this i have asked directly for the useful information and then for explanations, this is as if they are just giving quick reviews this will still be relevant e.g.- which design (number only needed) which style (number only needed)

Inspired by illustration this sleeve combines type with image in a disjointed style that expresses the overwhelming feelings caused by worry
The elements of this design contrast the different visual versions worry. Some see it a caged chemical effect, others as a overpowering wave
This cover shows the chemical symbol for serotonin, the chemical that causes anxiety therefore represents the chemical way to express worry |
An image of an eye here is used to reflect the lyrics, then a watercolour effect is added to seem as if the eye is damaged but beautifully |

Simple image of closed eyes with a tear portrays the emotions reflected in the song whilst interoperating the lyrics 'my eyes are closed' |
As most of the feedback for this project was positive and supported the ideas for colours, concepts, techniques ect there will be no more edits done to the final sleeves but for the brief a few different design ideas will be sent off, the only regret is that i was unable to get a cover so i could send of a physical copy of my ideas.
