This is an article I came around on a type book design by an art student in Germany, although on a different topic to my book for this brief i feel the simple, mono design style is something i can apply to my book. The design is simple, modernist and works for the typeface and subject, this is the style of book i feel is suitable for my book ideas on redrawn record sleeves as the concepts fits with this very simple yet dramatic style that draw attention to the imagery using white space and simple type.
This book mixes between pop-art vintage styles and combines them with a more modern layout to review the vintage imagery. The artist uses bold patterns which a two 3 colour scheme to make the design dramatic yet only using a simple grid. The over tone is serious due to the high contrasting colours and contrasting patterns is linked together to make a book by the colour scheme, how the colour scheme and style ca fit together different styles and make them seem as one. Even without a large amount of text the book has a impact n the reader by causing them to study the imagery in more detail as there less to distract. In my opinion this book shows how a simple black and white colour scheme can be used for a book yet it can still seem professional based of the rest of the design elements. This has made me more inclined to use a similar design grid and colour scheme to have the same effect of drawing attention to the imagery for this project. The designer shows how this colour scheme and layout can be used to drawn attention to busy content and how a 'boring' colour scheme can have the dramatic attention grabbing effect.
BOOK WHICH ARE ILLUSTRATION BASED DONT NEED MUCH TEXT (TOO OVER POWERING/BUSY)
