Geoff McFetridge
Geoff McFetrigde is a illustrator that works with mostly line drawing, he made messy imperfect lines that are sketchy to add a more personal heart warming feel to his work that is very simple. The drawing content is the focus of the illustration then the simple line style is created just to highlight this but not to draw tact, the intent to stripped back as far as it can be to make sure the images are over complicated. Because of the mono tone drawings, they have a very calming nature even if the content is busy it is balanced out by the simplicity of the lines/colour scheme/thickness.
This a style that i would to recreate in my drawings as its a way to group together busy content with a balance design that appears as soft, calming and minimal. The line he uses are quite thick so that the objects are obvious and highlight the outside of a shape, int parts the space if then filled with black if attention needs to be drawn to it or to balance out a more complex composition. It balance by making sure there isn't too much white space used or smaller section as the filled to reduce the amour of smaller spaces reducing the complication of the image, the filled areas grab attention first if the composition is busier its a way of simplifying the drawings without adding colour or more line. There is as little detail added to make the drawings understandable but clear, its quirky but modern and i feel this is a style that i wan tot try for record sleeve drawings.
