505 Design Practise 2 - Studio Brief 1- Briefing

Brief

For both studio briefs for this module it is vital to pass as well as to get a good grade that the outcome, research and design process all involved ethical considerations. PRACTICAL THEORETICAL + CONCEPTUAL. Feedback from the last submission highlighted that work need to focus on  more theoretical research, so this will be explored for this brief.

studio brief 1 - Leeds Public Space

This brief will explore the uses and abuses of public spaces around Leeds, the purpose and current exhibition does much to communicate the identity and character of cities, the history of leeds defines it as a the City. Across Leeds there is a huge list of events that take or have taken place within its public spaces that range from carnivals, concerts, markets, exhibitions, parades, sports events, protests, happenings, flash mobs, etc.

This task is to research the various events and happenings that have occurred in Leeds combined with how helped shape the city; then choose one that will become the focus for an A3 traditional print that celebrates of this event. Any event can be the focus, whether or not it was organized or impromptu but it final outcome must be celebratory.

The A3 print must use only traditional print methods. The prints will be exhibited in the level 4/5 exhibition in May.

FIND A EVENT THAT HAS SHAPED LEEDS AND CREATE A TRADITIONAL A3 PRINT TO CELEBRATE THIS

For this brief think visually, explore both literal and lateral responses. Explore working with text and image, both combined and separately. Consider the various techniques and processes that are available along with the suitability for conveying or re-enforcing the ideas being communicated.

-Analogue print on A3 stock/Final Print
-Content must be suitable for public viewing and be celebratory in nature.
-5 x A3 design boards that provide a overview of your research, process and design decisions

-Documentation of the development via posting the Studio Practice blog.
