406 Studio Brief 2 - Licence to Print Money, Final Prints

Final Prints

After the first screen print where created the screen where fixed to produce the most accurate outcome with the most detail that could be used for these notes. A wide range of stock was selected to be used for this brief, this is as the brief is for an exhibition as a piece of art therefore need to stand out against the other note design but also as the target audeince is children, children will be used to seeing normal plain white paper so creating a note on a different unique stock will appeal to them more, the stock will impress the audience making them pay more attention to note therefore fulfilling the aim of appealing and informing this audience. This use of coloured stock also allowed the note to include 4 different colours with only 3 layer of screen print, giving a wide range of colour scheme that can be tested and fitting with the use of this medium.

The stock for this brief need to enhance the design on the note but note distract from the purpose of the note or make the design unreadable therefore contrasting colour will be combined to make the detail and the design stand out better against the background.

the main combinations used will be
red and yellow, to represent the Chinese flag/Chinese new year/Chinese culture
green and pink, to represent the nature colours of plum blossoms

then gold and black and white will be added over depending on the background to make the text the most readable. a mixture of experiments will be combined as this is easily done via screen print incase any unexpected colour schemes work better together.

ISSUES -
hard to see the yellow on some the darker background
hard to aline the designs perfectly so each note is slightly different
some design messed up due to personal error but more where created to solve this
back design seems boring/simple compared to front
front works best for the note design
different sized notes due to the alinement issues
some have smudges/finger print which again is personal error with this technique
some notes moved after the first print so have two layer of the same over overlapping

Final Outcomes

as so many final outcome were produced only the best/most professional quailty print where photographed, these are the outcome that got the most positive feedback when asked to a group of peers which design schemes they preferred and felt would suit the exhibition best.

As the front design final outcome produced so much better than the back design i have focus on this for these images, this is due to the more detail and flowing text on the covers that make the designs seem more balanced yet busy where as the back outcome feel empty due to the blank space. This was agreed with when asked for feedback for the designs by a large audeince as they felt it was the most successful print,  therefore as this note isn't for a live brief which means it wont be used as a actual note it doesn't need to include all the need information to make it practically useable so for  the final outcome for this brief for the exhibition will just be the front of the note as this is seem a better outcome for this design heavy exhibition piece brief.
