For this brief the aim is to create a piece of work that help the new student starting the course, for this i feel the best way is to express something i personally struggled with, give advice on an issue that i can't relate too. This will give my final outcome a personal twist but also aim to inform them more, this is as it not a over all piece of advice that could be created by anyone, this brief has been given to use as we have just and still currently are experiencing first year therefore this should be used in influence the brief outcome as we know best what issues we faced.
mind map
issues i had this years -
drinking
I couldn't drink or deal with drinking as much as some people i meet during freshers
hangovers
since first year does include a lot of drinking and mostly using cheap booze, they hangover i got this year were awful.
money
having to budget for the first time and being skint as i didn't have a job, it took time to getting use to not having a job and a weekly income
planning
time planning, night out planning, work planning, meal planning SO MUCH PLANNING
food
having to shop for food whilst being skint and only having to cook my own meals all the time
washing up
urgh
blogging
this course involves a lot of blogging when brief are given sometime i didn't do this to later and the work load build up massively
graphics
having never been taught graphics before the main issues i had with this course if if let out of place, i felt i wasn't good enough to be here or good compare to anyone on the course this made ma feel really kinda of crap for a few weeks
sleep
going out and the coming into uni at 9 in the morning really messes up my sleeping pattern, i napped a lot and this created a viscous cycle because then i couldn't sleep at night but i felt with this by blogging at night
friends
the people you meet at fresher won't be your rest friend, no matter how much you think they will
missing my friends
after being with my friend for over 10 years its strange having to make other friends
issues that other people faced that i understood but didn't personally therefore don't think i can write about since i didn't face them i don't know a solution and can't relate, this brief want us to think about our personal experiences of first year and even thought i realised these issues exist i don't feel i can produce work about them as i don't understand the subject as well as i do the
-homesick
-missing parents
-northern/south change
-accents
-putting on weight
-missing partner
-missing your pets
-having to balance a job and university
-having horrible flatmates
