406 Studio Brief 2 - Licence to Print Money, Evaluation

Evaluation

When starting this brief the main thing that appealed to me was that the final outcome didn't have to be overly serious, i wanted to create  tote that reflected something ridiculous or stupid as this could be done for this brief but after starting research into money design and how decretive/beautiful they could be this changed the outcome. The aim was to produced something that represented beauty using graphic design and the benefits of screen print, the in main idea where first based around the idea of raise awareness n so form, this was due to the as this is concept that most money design reflect. The final outcome reflect raising awareness but also celebrates the beauty of design and tries to reflect culture of a nation as well. The outcome is in form a red note on a texture back ground using yellow and red ink, every aspect of the final outcome has been influenced by Chinese culture in some way to produced a note that internationally recognised as Chinese yet also beautiful as it is created to be a piece of artwork for the exhibition. The note went thought many different phrases of colour schemes, design and themes but exploring these has in my opinion built up a note i'm quite happy with, its allowed me to use screen print as a method of production showing how this media can enhance
the design of art and the benefits of this media. China was picked as the country for this note as it has the largest population and therefore the widest target market, this meant the note had to be gender less and age less this as done by research and basing the stye around Chinese culture which a modern design twist. The research for the brief has informed al the aspect of the design and has given a greater knowledge to into china as a whole, its show how the design style differs form the one popular in this country. This culture is very different to our and to repent a culture i have no ideas about i and to conduct in-depth research into the subject area but this has benefits the final out. Also testing all the different inks and stock was a nightmare as it took ages but this has shown that screen print can have effect that can be planned digitally and some time for example with the blue outcome the colours that don't expect to work do and therefore this experiment process was beneficial. Experimental work is key for a successful outcome. Whilst screen printing for the final outcome fro this brief a lot of mistakes happened, i messed up a lot of notes due to my personal error but this has taught me not to relay on one screen print copy only as it can go wrong, also being clean is efficient in this process to create the best outcomes. The brief has been different as the outcome isn't for practical use, this gave more creative control over the output and i aimed to create a more lighthearted celebratory piece for the outcome because of this and hope to have achieved this.
