Disposable Camera Photography Books
After research into how the style of book sold at urban outfitters, one of the books was 'The Polaroid Book' This was a book that celebrated the beauty of polaroid photography, this then lead to the idea of if books that celebrated disposable camera photography was available and then how this was sold without looking like a photo album. How this style of book showed imagery similar to the context for this brief and sold it.

Secondary Research
The Drugstore Camera, Dennis Hopper

'The Drugstore Camera feels like a stumbled-upon treasure, a disposable camera you forgot about and only just remembered to develop. Yet in this case the photographer is Dennis Hopper and the photographs, remarkably, are never before published. Shot in Taos, New Mexico, where Hopper was based following the production of Easy Rider in the late 60s, the series was taken with disposable cameras and developed in drugstore photo labs. This clothbound collection documents Hopper's friends and family among the ruins and open vistas of the desert landscape, female nudes in shadowy interiors, road trips to and from his home state of Kansas and impromptu still lifes of discarded objects. These images, capturing iconic individuals, wide-open Western terrain and drug-addled fun, create a captivating view of the 60s and 70s that combines political idealism and optimism with California cool.'

This book is a collection of disposable camera shots taken by photographer Dennis Hopper during a film set, it is effectively a photo album of the trip from his view which link this style book to the feedback from the presentation. This style of book sells as it showcases the unique effects given by the style of camera used for the image capture but also is a collection of interesting imagery that will appeal to a boarder audience interested in native american style photography or culture as this is what most of the imagers content is. The book highlights the style of analog photography to add integrity and detail to the otherwise simple images, it showcases the what could be considered  the mistakes or issues with this capture technique as a positive. Ina  world where all most photos are Digital taken, crispy, hight quality imagery this relates back to a time era before this technology was possible. The images are give more personality due to the mistakes caused by the technique which link to the content for this brief. These images use the camera for the same reasons it was selected for this brief because it portray the atmosphere and the feelings of being in the situation at the time in the most suitable/accurate way.  This will sell the book to those who are inspired or are fans of this style of photography as well as those interested in the content of the imagery.

The size of the book is 9.4 inches by 8.2 which is  bigger than then average disposable camera photography size (6 by 4) this therefore give room for a large amounts of white space around the imagery which is then combined with a spacious layout where the images are seen alone as the focus. The images are in centred on the right pages of the book only, this is as this is where the viewer is drawn to naturally therefore make it easier for the audience to see the images as the artist intended. The one of the main features of the layout is so that the audience views the images easily without distraction, this is done by the obvious placement and the way that on open pagespread the only one single image is seen, theres no other elements to focus on but the imagery.

Having the images singular makes them appear more separate, rather than as a set or pair of imagery highlight the beauty of the images as individual this is done to intrigue an audience interested in this style of photography. The stye of the content is very messy, imperfect photography but the production and design of the book is very modernist, simplistic stylistic construction as to allow the photos to be the element the audience is drawn too without creating overly busy pages.

The images as highly visible due to the white space around them, this perfect modern design contrasts with the rudimentary photography style creating a juxtaposition being the content and the style to make the book seem more professional to the viewer rather than cheap as the photography style could be seen as.

Theres no decorative type or design involved in the book to make sure the images are seen as powerful serious shots, this shows the audience the book is created to be a more meaningful mature photography book. The modern design style adds a clean profession look to the informal, cheaply produced style imagery to make it sell to an older more design oriented audience by giving a serious nature to the content allowing it to sell to older professional photographer. The cheapness of the imagery is lost due to the expense added from the design style so the photos can be appreciated as works of art rather than just as quick cheap photographs.

A similar style of design could added to this brief as the content collected for this brief is of the same nature, this is a style that could be used for the book to make it appeal to an boarder audiecene interested in the analog photographic effects as well as interested in the festival mimicking the purpose of this book.
-try modern to contrast/highlight the styles
-display the imagery to appeal to a boarder audiecene intrigued by the photo style

Gangsters & Grifters: Classic Crime Photos from the Chicago Tribune

'Created from the Chicago Tribune's vast archives, Gangsters and Grifters is a collection of photographs featuring infamous criminals, small-time bandits, hoodlums, and more at shocking crime scenes. These vintage glass-plate and acetate negatives were taken from the early 1900s through the 1950s, and they have been largely unseen for generations. That is because most have never been published, only having been witnessed by the photographers and police in the moments after an arrest, crime, or even murder. Included are graphic crime scenes, raw evidence, and depictions of searing emotions, captured on film during a time when photographers were given unprecedented access alongside police. Some photographs resemble film noir movie stills. Some are cartoonish. All feature real people, real drama, and real crimes. Accompanying information about each is included wherever possible, often with archived news stories. Gangsters and Grifters is a powerful, visually stunning look back into the dark story of Chicago's nefarious crime underworld. These fascinating, surprising, and entrancing photos reveal still-unsolved murder mysteries and portraits of notorious gang overlords like John Dillinger and Al Capone. This is a must-have for photography buffs, history lovers, and anyone curious about the seedy underbelly of early 20th-century Chicago.'

Newton. Polaroids

'Polaroids occupy a special place in the hearts of many photo enthusiasts who remember a time when "instant photography" meant one-of-a-kind prints that developed within minutes of clicking the shutter. What was once a crucial tool for photographers to test their shots before shooting on film has now become obsolete in the face of digital photography. Luckily for us, legendary photographer Helmut Newton saved his test Polaroids, allowing a privileged and rare chance to see the tests from a selection of his greatest shoots over a period of decades, including many from the TASCHEN titles SUMO, A Gun for Hire, and Work. Selected by his widow, June Newton, from over 300 photos featured at the 2011 exhibition "Helmut Newton Polaroids" at the Museum for Fotografie in Berlin, this collection captures the magic of Helmut Newton photo shoots as only Polaroids can.'

Harry Gruyaert
'Born in Antwerp in 1941, Harry Gruyaert was one of the first European photographers to explore the creative potential of colour in the 1970s and 1980s. This book brings together his best work, including images from his renowned 1972 series TV Shots and the later Made in Belgium, in one beautifully produced volume. Influenced by such American photographers as Saul Leiter, Joel Meyerowitz, Stephen Shore and William Eggleston, as well as by cinema, Gruyaert’s work defined new territory for colour photography: an emotive, non-narrative and boldly graphic way of perceiving the world. His photographs are autonomous and self-sufficient, often independent from any context or thematic logic.'

Features Seen
- book created to be read at home/ coffee table books are bigger, heavy, thicker, cost more and hardback (disposable camera book, gangsters book) compared to books that are created to be a guide or useful (lomography guides)
- guides should be easy to read/use due to the production but durable
-minimal design can work for analog photography as well as busy
-the design sets the tone for the audience and the style of boo, minimal=serious/older, busy=fun/younger
-high quality stock costs more so this effect the price of the book, this related the target audience age. the books targeted at the older audience with more money have better quality stock but are more expensive.
-the books that uses more colours target a younger audience as this seem more fun, flashy feel, this compares
