Photo Scans

For this publication feedback/research has inspired an idea of create a college style page design, the page will be collage of materials, items found and other elements relating to the festival. Text will be added either separately via another scan of hand-drawn text on a different material to be overlapped or drawn directly on to the image before the scan. this is to achieve a more personal, unplanned, expressive type that fits with the style of content produced. The content is very messy, unorganised, documentary imagery but this has been done to be present the atmosphere along with the festival experience therefor the text should enhance this style rather that separate from it, the imagery and text need to fit together to create a similar tone of voice for the publication.

An actually physical college cannot be produced for this publications this would make it completely un-mass producible do to the way it cannot be printed or recreated digital only by hand but to make the book mimic this style.Scan have been done as this capture the textures, depth and random nature of the photos with over items layer on top to represent the college style layout.

First experiments were done into creating a college from separate manually scanned in element then digitally overlapping them with slight editing also digital elements for example text was added, this creates a was obviously digital design due to the nature of the technique being this media but this style then doesn't fit with the imagery or the concept for the book.The nature of the imagery is hand created, analogy produced photography which have been selected as it captures the festival in the most accurate representational way, editing the pages in this style loses this element and distract from the concept.

An aim for this book is to represent the atmosphere of the festival experience as it is, represent a capture moment that people can relate back to, therefore it must be capture in the most accurate way possible.  As well as just showing the content the book need to have a tone of voice that audience relate to the festival, having page layout/design that seem digital goes against this as most thing used or seen at a festival aren't digital, festival camping for most people is break for the digital world therefore this book need to reflect this too. There
-pages should be all manual elements
-scan in the elements in selections
-scanning in separately allows more control over the page layout but if it obviously seen /edited loses part of the feel capture in the imagery.
