Stocks tested -
Ranges of different finished on browns, to reflect the mud at the festival and orange stocks to fit with the colour scheme as well as to reflect the the sun/positive weather at the festival. The aim of the inside cover is to have a decorative page as this was seen heavy in primary research into books old in the distribution channel, as well as contrasting with the cover material which will fit with the aim of having a textured book that express an experience more than just sight. For the stock choice GFSmith samples will be tested this is as if the book was being mass produced this is a viable paper company choice as they can produce mass amounts of specialised paper in the same colour/style.

After receiving the stock test, experiments on the brown stocks have been decided against, this is as the idea about designing the book around mud has been dismissed due to the idea it brings in negative vibes/memories or give a negative reflect of the one of the downfalls of the festival to the book. Therefore the stock experimented with will be the orange samples and light blue azure stock, this colour is the colour aimed for by the cover and will fit with the colour scheme the best.

The major issues with this stock is although a specialists stock it seem very similar to colour plan embossed, theres no overly decorative techniques used in the design except the embossing, which does work for texture. But also with this cover it ripped when bent into the crease as its very thick stock, a high gsm this made the sample look immature and unprofessional. Also as seen in the images above the stock isn't very durable and get damaged or effect by any material very easily (this example was accidentally cover in PVA glue) this may cause issues with with binding and production as well as not fitting with the durable concept.

This stock has a slightly different finish to the other style and ripped slightly less but still had the other issues of the stock, it wasn't durable and damaged easily during production making the book look unprofessional and slightly crap.

This paper stock is the most interesting and decorative stock, its the most eye catching due to the shimmer nature as well as this finish meaning the light is reflected, this links to the idea of creating a sun based stock. This is the most attractive paper stock for the inside cover but has issues when attached, it bubbles very easily due to the thinness of the stock but this cannot be changed as this the only gsm available. Also also as the stock is very thin, this meant that the cover material can be seen through it this meant the shadows can be seen on the photograph. To try and change this by adding to 2 sheets overlapped over each other to mean the material is less see-though, this work but added more bubbles to the material. To avoid this more experiments will be done to see if attaching the sheets in more delicate way with less glue will causes less bubbles.
2nd Test
-more delicate application, less glue
feedback - try white thick stock underneath it to stop it bubbling in over the cover, attach ti tot this material first
3rd Test
-white card applied first
BLUE STOCK
