Interim Crit
FEEDBACK
inside page colour -
spray mount the orange page
use orange page
the blue having one side make its less interesting for the reader
the blue is too thick compared to the page, its two thick and unflickable
ORANGE
on the cover colour -
the drakcolour was very unpopular, between the other colours
bright blue book cloth looks more positive, fits with the orange more, more attention grabbing, more laid back goes with the page idea
other cloth suits the hue of the images more, seems more used/dirty, seems more ages/mature, lees flashy
bright blue fits best, more sky colour
likes the more rustic one
BRIGHT BLUE
size-
size smaller the better, more like the page size
make a boarder around the image in the size, so easier to move cover
slightly bigger than pages only
small is more handy
small is easier to read
SMALLER BUT HAVE FULL PAGE/BETWEEN SIZES, NEED BOARDER AROUND IMAGES
on the crease-
full view pages is less annoying, use double crease
two creases is more symmetrical
two creases is easier to open/flick though
TWO CREASES
on the binding design-
the arena style one is less obvious
the arena one doesn't work landscape, shape is lost
the tent one is more clear/relatable
the arena style only relevant is they see it/get it
the arena style is very exclusive
the small style of the arena design look more professional/stylised
the tent style is more simplistic/geometric which fits with current style
liked the delicate nature of the arena
prefer the tent one
the concept is stronger on the arena one but the tent one looks better
'beauty is defined by symmtery' make it equal
TENT STYLE ONE BUT SMALLER
final decisions -
The book inside pages should consist of the orange GFSmith material, the colour decision will need to be based off how the covers look once screen printed in combination with the ink colour to see which cover works best as the crit feedback and the reasoning behind this decision has been inconclusive. The cover will be screen printed on inflorescent orange ink to link to the colour of the string used for the binding, the cover will be simple hand rendered cover to balance out the design heavy pages and also will be screen printed to work with the cover material, this will allow the cove to be texture heavy to reflect the messy personal nature of the festival. The page stock will be printed on the most glossy/photo accurate paper stock available in college but if this book was mass produced it would be printed on a range of different page stocks available for paper mechanist to allow the book to be more textured to represent the experience rather than just the book as sight. The cover size for the book will be 11.6cm by 18.75, this is to give the pages a border of 5mm on each size, this keeps the book easy to hold/portal/easy to carry as well as making it easy to take to the festival if needed. A smaller handy size will be more suitable for the audience to use as well as making it sell more as a small gift, a prime selling point of this book is as a gift and from research into the distribution channels style book design a smaller more personal size is more suitable/used. The book will have crease on both covers, this will allow the pages to open fully so they audience can see/read all the intent content.
